You can with a manual too. That doesnt mean you are supposed to, or that it is good for ityou can shift an auto without even letting off the gas.
ya but it doesn't hurt an automatic... most of the time I don't even hit the brake when shifting from reverse through neutral to drive.. I just roll to about 3-5 mph and shift, doesn't make noises or kick or anything, won't hurt it. Just don't shift from D to R or R to D going 5+ mph, and yes to the smart *** that said automatics only had a D, some (like jeeps) also have a 1, 2, 3, etc.You can with a manual too. exactly if you want to shift dont drive automatic transmissionYea shifting like that is completely harmless. -_- thats why your car is broked
if you want to shift, buy a manual
It's broke because he downshifted into second rather than third. If you pay attention, there is no problem to shifting that way. When you only have 4 gears, a 2 gear downshift can be a problem.Yea shifting like that is completely harmless. -_- thats why your car is broked

Gee... Maybe I've tried that? and Maybe I'm having ****** problems?what really sucks here is that i bet like most automatic cars ive owned if you put the pedal to the floor it automatically downshifts for you. i know my ***** Am, T-bird, and both civics do.
Read above post.ok my comment wasnt smart *** ******** i had an xterra with 1,2, and OD but wtf is the point of using them on the highway when D works fine?!
