I Blew IT!!

Could be you just got a bum sub.

I had an IDMAX blow when it was underpowered, and turns out it was a faulty coil.

From what you have said, I dont see much how you could have fried the sub, unless 900 watts was just too much for it.

I say get a replacement, and go on bumpin. If it happens again, get a higher RMS sub for that amp.

Already done!!! I really want to try another sub that will work in this enclosure. I want it to be just as loud or louder of course and maybe sound a little cleaner than the type r does.

Percentages are these easiest way I can think to explain it. Essentially what I'm sayin is I didnt slam the gain all the way to get more output from the sub.
The point was, depending on your amp, and your h/u, setting the gain at "60%" could very well be slamming the gain. Ive had systems that required the gains to be at their minimum.

Again, when people say "I only had my gain set at xx%" that tends to mean they dont understand the true nature of setting the gain properly. "60%" really tells us nothing about if the gain was set conservatively, just right, or set too high.

Well my method for setting the gain was pretty basic. I dont have a DMM so I simply turned my HU up to about 75% of the max volume. Then I turned the gain up until I noticed some distortion coming in then backed off on it quite a bit. I do think my problem may be turning up my HU too loud to compensate for my sub drowning out the rest of the music. I know I need to upgrade to some components but I cant afford it right now so this will have to do. I'll be jus a little light on it this time around.
