I am so stoned...

Economic reasons will never be the reason they legalize pot. Take prohibition for example. Remember how people still got alcohol? They were bootlegging, What makes you people think drug dealers are going to stop their "job" making tons of money just because the government is selling it. The dealers would end up charging less than the gov't therefore the government wouldn't really make shit. Not to mention the government probably makes more of fines and what not for people getting arrested for pot. I don't ever see pot being legalized anyway.
good point i stand corrected,

grammar

Just for the sake of argument, legalizing marijuana would cause more competition in the market which would cause the average price of the product to be reduced. The vast majority of people would purchase the product at government regulated establishments like they do now for alcohol and tobacco. Cigarettes can be easily sold for less than $2 a pack and they are charging $4+ for a pack now, but you don't see a huge upswing in illegal tobacco importing. It's the same with alcohol; the only bootlegging that goes on now in large quantities is the distilling of moonshine because it is not allowed on the open market (minus Everclear which I don't think is a proper substitute).

The reason why organized crime won't florish is because the average person does not want to deal with organized crime when they can go to the cornerstore. The cost of paying more at a legitimate establishment outweighs the cost and consequences of dealing with criminals. There might be a few greenhouses here and there, but the bulk of all sales would be taxed and legit because the underground trafficing of legal drugs is not profitable.

I don't think marijuana will ever be legalized either other than for strictly medical reasons and even then, heavily regulated. A sizable portion of the over 2 million prisoners incarerated are in there because of drug charges (http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/prisons.htm). Personally, I think the cost of prosecuting and keeping those people locked up is a waste of money that could be used elsewhere. If you do something illegal when you get high then send their *** to prison like anyone else, but drug use by itself does not consitute a crime, IMO. If an employer does not want to hire a person based on their recreational drug use, then that is their perogative. Too much time and too many resources are being used on a "war on drugs" that has been steadly costing taxpayers more and more each year.

And just for reference sake, I don't smoke. I think it is weak and stupid, but it's not up to me to make people believe that.

whoever said grammer meant it in the drug amount sense lol

stoners will never rule the world obviously but there are successfull stoners. john rockets a pothead to the bone, and he is a very tactical businessman. i've met him a couple times it was kinda weird, his wife's hot though and rolls in the e55 amg...hes got sicker

I don't know where you get your information from, but it is NOT sold in stores here ...
It is decriminalized here, meaning you can have up to 30 grams (a little over an ounce) legally in your possession without it being a criminal offense. If you are caught with 30 grams or less in your possession, it is confiscated. If you are caught with more than 30 grams in your possession, you are arrested and tried.

They do, however, have stores that sell marijuana paraphenalia, such as bongs, pipes, papers, etc. We even have one in our local mall here ...
My friend lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Google ' Vancouver and Marijuana ' and you'll find a lot more information on the city and it's policy/overall attitude towards marijuana.

and to quote him: "The city I live in is very lenient towards marijuana and even has a marijuana political party. This is their main 'head quarters' per say... you can get anything from pot/pipes/bongs/books/seeds/accessories/clothing... etc. there."

I doubt it...although, that's probably taking place anyway.

Besides, there's nothing illegal with searching Google for pot.

Yet. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

there have been MANY books dedicated to the aforementioned case.

all of said books reach the same conclusion after extensive research:

the money invested in the "war on drugs" IE:

prosecuting criminals, keeping these criminals in jail, paying for the tools and human resources to fight this "war on drus" is an astronomical figure. There is no rational explanation for the amount of money spent considering it is such an ineffective program. The former head of the DEA was once quoted as saying that he was happy catching 1 out of every 100 drug dealers, because it makes the other 99 think twice about what they're doing. If we still have a "drug problem" despite all the money spent to fight it.... theres a bigger problem - the rationale behind it. Pot may never be legalized for any reason, but every argument I've heard for the legalization of pot has been sound and intelligent. The arguments provided by those who demonize pot have been less than compelling, and often are based on a vague arbitrary morality.

With that said, I havent smoked pot more than 3 times in the past 2 years. I dont smoke pot because I dont like it, not because somebody told me it was wrong. Everyone needs to come to their own conclusion, but one must ask: is it a conclusion drawn by the government, or by one's own personal knowledge?

I've seen a couple kids die from weed.. and you wana know how? Because they became so mother ****in dumb while they were high... and did the most stupidest shit ive ever seen.
RIP

But still... come on I know beer is bad for you IF you get drunk all the time... but did you know its actually so good for you to have ONE beer a day.... it cleans your liver and helps your heart become stronger over years..... now lets think of weed...

Um... nothing...

Weed cures some forms of cancer, as well as glaucoma. And it's wine you're supposed to have a glass once a day. Beer causes liver damage. And it's impossible to overdose on weed, you can not only die from drinking too much beer it causes so many more deaths than weed ever will. You must not have done a very good job on that 80 page research paper.

smoking weed? its like on the same level as taking tylenol.
your about stupid as hell. i used to think i couldnt live life without weed but i was wrong. most people that smoke weed are followers and never smoke alone/ oh weed can kill if your geeked out on meth or if you have a bad heart. weed jacks up your metabolism inwhich jacks your blood pressure up- last time i checked that isnt good for you.

Weed cures some forms of cancer
I would really like you to tell me how you came to that conclusion. I hardly believe any accredited medical journal has ever published anything of that sort. Marijuana may reduce the pain and symptoms of some types of cancer, but it does not cure cancer.

And it's wine you're supposed to have a glass once a day. Beer causes liver damage.
Alcohol is what destroys your liver. It does not matter if it is in the form of wine, beer, or grain alcohol. However, there have been studies that a glass of wine a day can reduce your chances of prostate and colon cancer. Google it if you want to read the full formal text on it.

you can not only die from drinking too much beer it causes so many more deaths than weed ever will.
Marijuana may be less lethal than alcohol but there isn't much proof to that besides people's beliefs concerning it. If smoking marijuana was as widespread as alcohol then you might have a case, but all you have is unsubstantiated personal beliefs that are obviously biased. Get some hard figures and you may have a case; otherwise, it's all hearsay.
