How many of you over power your Subwoofers by say 50-100 watts. For example, if your subs are rated for 300 watts rms do you or would you put 350-400 into them ? When you do over power them do you notice any distortion ? The reason I am askiing is because I want to buy an amp that will push my 4 subs, rated for 300 watts rms , at 350 watts rms. Should I or shouldn't I //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif. I also know the rating are almost perfect due to voltage and current constantly changing, but still would like your input and experiences.

Do it, it will be ok. It will alllow you to turn your gain down a notch, and make your amp not work as hard. If it's any decent quality sub it should easily be able to handle 15 % more power than rated.

i over power mine by about 300 each, but anyways set the gain with a DMM and you can get it to the 300 each you want.just because an amp puts out X amount of power does not mean you have to use it all. search for the gain setting tutorial.
