I am in need of help on this enclosure design...

Here's the deal. I have a 12" RL-P. I don't know if I should have posted this here or in the HT forum, but no matter. This is the problem, I cannot get the tuning I want. I am looking at around 30hz even on this, and I want about 1.75 cubes NET. This should preferably have around 25 in^2 of port area via a slot port for extra bracing. Here's the thing though. I've built countless enclosures for myself and my home setup, but none of them have actually looked like home subwoofers. That's my goal with this project. I want it compact, or at the very least have a semi-reasonable shape (not a low flat rectangle like car audio boxes) so that people think about HT when they see it. Here's the thing: to get that aesthetic goal, I need to have a cubeish shape. What happens though is that when you use a slot port in this small of an enclosure, you're fighting Vb for port area. I want this to be as small as possible and have the prism shape be as regular as possible. At the very most, i'd prefer it to be deeper than wide as that looks more HT'ish. Any help is appreciated, that is, actual help. Thanx.

I wonder if you could build the bottom so that it is recessed in leaving you as many incehs as you want under the enclosure this way it would give the apearance of a taller "tower" type box, but in all actuality it is smaller then it apears... You can then cut notcehs lets say one to two inches high so that it looks as though the box is also sitting on four legs... That would give it a great *** apeal, as well as give you "hidden room" to play with the port, and net volume.

No I asked if you could explain it in more detail.
Oh... I was only suggesting you build the bottom of the enclosure so that it sits inside the box about 6-10 inches so that you can extend the port outside of the box a bit... But it would all be hidden behind the boxes panels and the sub would be facing towards the floor.

 
Ah, I get you. However, I don't want it to be downfring. I've drawn up my ideas on it thus far, check 'em out.

Ahhh I C..... I would put a bull nose on the edges of all of the port.. especially the last one where it exits the box. (just in case some people don't know what a bull nose is... it's both sides rounded over to give it a full rounded end.)
