HZ in a song?

lol haven't used any in a long long time...the new one looks good = ). i don't know how much lower you're gonna get out of it...i don't know how much lower your car would actually play either, you know what i mean?

32hz is a low low note! one of my fav's haha.

the red numbers are the 'volume' it's playing at. instead of using real volume numbers they have it set up as negatives...kind of like older house stuff. instead of going from 1-50 they will have 50-1...where the lower the number the louder it is. those numbers don't have anything to do with real world db levels or anything.

what that does tell me is the bass note is harder hitting at the 63hz tone versus the 32hz note and then drops in the midbass range. So if I were to guess I would say it's half way between 32-63...probably around a 45hz note give or take.

it also depends on how you have everything eq'd. you could set it any way you want if you start tweeking stuff in your comp.

it would probably be more beneficial if you picked up a test tone cd...or just made one = ). if you get one spend a few minutes flipping through the tracks and you'll get to know frequencies really well.

any sanctioned db drag competition will have some for sale...same with iasca. i'm sure if you looked online you can find them there too.

most bass cd's you can buy at tower or rasputin records or virgin where ever have test tones on them. Just look at the song selection....if it has a lot of really really short tracks you know those are test tones...like 5-30 second tracks are gonna be test tones

i took a guess it was 45hz...i figured that because where everything else is playing mainly 63 and 32 hz.

the computer is going to show where it is playing even without speakers hooked up unless the eq is tweeked. assuming the eq was set flat and you didn't adjust anything I compared 63 to 32 and the difference between them...at that moment in the song, 45hz was just a guess.

that could mean the next note drops to 32hz higher than 63. bass lines are always changing

the best way to do a 'hands on' test of frequencies to visually see how they work is like this....

take a piece of string like 6in long and lay it straight on the desk...pick it up in the middle (about two inches) and see how the 'slope' is. Now say where you pick it up is 100hz...picking it up at 100hz will end up altering the surrounding frequencies...(the 'q' factor, a low 'q' will effect more frequencies with a smoother slope. while a high 'q' will effect less of the surrounding frequencies but more of a spike). Now if you have a 100hz note and it peaks at 100hz it will slope down below and above 100hz.

same kind of thing with that 32 and 63hz note. unless it's a pure test tone it will play a variety of frequencies...just like the string thing. 32hz will play up higher but at a lower volume you know what I mean?

Being there are only two points in that set of bass notes it is hard to assume what note it will be. So i assumed it was the average between the two because of the volume they were playing.

lol dam i just confused myself

the problem with 'seeing' where the bass note is...is there could be more than one bass note going at a time.

even on songs with a strong low deep bass line there might be some quick higher thuds in the middle of that continuing bass line. You know what I mean?

seeing what's on paper or on the computer doesn't mean it's like that in the real world. that song can be a 63hz note with a 32hz low end extension. or it could be a 32hz continuous note with a 63hz bass kick. or it could be a straight 45hz thump. just never know because that was just one quick snap in a fraction of a second of the song.

could always go to a more high end stereo shop in your area and have them hook up an rta (real time analyzer) in your car for $20 and that way you can actually see exactly what's going on...also tune the system at the same time = )
