My sis, bro-n-law, and two nieces are now mourning the loss of the house they have spent the last five years remodeling and more than a few friends that were too stubborn and/or foolish to get out of Orleans parish when they could (the preceding not in order of importance, mind you) - for those that do not know Louisiana is sub-divided into parishes rather than counties.

Thank the good Lord that my family made it out safely and made it up here to shack up with Mom & Dad until they know what to do next.

Denim, when this idea of yours - a good one to be certain - gets a bit more organized please do keep us posted. I'll be more than happy to give what I am able.

My prayers go out to any and all, irrelevant of location, adversely affected by Katrina's wrath.

Thats the web site of a radio station in houston that is doing a request-a-thon. They normally play just alternative rock, but they will play anything you request today for a donation. You can go to the site and listen to the broadcast, they have it streaming. last time i heard the total it was at 10:20am and they allready had 17,500$. Go check it out if you can guys.

heh city of new orleans doesnt allow casino's on there "land" so they are built on water, on top of pilings, so casinos are ****ed, but still casinos still gotta pay taxes...but still this is horrible ppl grabbing tv's like where the **** you gonna go and plug them into? New Orleans will get hit again in the future, if it gets rebuilt.

oh and plus this is nothing like there tsunami, this water cannot be washed back to the water, this water has to be pumped out...

Today, my school raised over $10,000. To keep that in perspective, we only have about 1,100 students.

People are already calling Lafayette the New New Orleans lol. Already, our school has received almost 200 applications from refugees. Now, keep in mind that this is a private school. I can't imagine what the public schools are going to look like next week:crap:

I donated $200.00 to American Red Cross for hurricane relief. It would be more, but that's already more than I can afford at the moment.

My company is also DOUBLE-matching all donations made by our employees for the hurricane relief efforts. We have more than 54,000 employees!

If I could leave my job, wife, and our baby, I'd be down there tomorrow doing whatever I can to help out personally.

This is destruction and loss beyond comprehension. If we can save the life of just one child's mommy, or one sister's brother, it's worth far more than the sacrifice it took to do so.
