hsl excursion

just wondering, how are the hsl excursion subs? are they any good?and do they require a small sealed or ported box?
I've built many setup's with these subs, depending on the series, the power you have and what you are trying to do will determine if they suit your needs.

I like using the the "80" series and the "Pro" series. They work great in small boxes, use 1 cube sealed each if you are running the 12's. 5-800 wrms will be more than enough for each. The Pro's will like more power tho, you can use ported boxes but they weren't really designed for ported. If you are running less power the lower series will get plenty loud will low power. It also depends on how much they are going to cost you as well. Check out some of the RE stuff also.

To answer your question, they are a good value sub that plays great in small sealed boxes and I've personally used a pair of the "80" series in dual 1cube sealed enclosures and ran them without problems in one of my vehicles for over 2years.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

im looking at a 10 for next to nothing, its for the g/f's ride and she wants to stay kinda small. its the series befor the pro. running off a 200w MTX amp. so they sound good sealed.do they not sound as good ported?

The "80" series is just under their pro, try the 10 in an enclosure a tad bit over 1/2 cube after displacement and that should be plenty with the amp, assuming that's 200wrms. Unless she just wants balls to the wall bass, she should be happy. Make sure that the amp can handle the mono load though.

I've heard the Excursions in a ported alignment and they sounded good, but that was in a sound room and not in a vehicle. I like the sealed setup due to the small footprint of the enclosure........ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
