How will this work?

Im looking to upgrade my system and be done for a while, ive had chitty mtx subs, and right now I have a apline type r 12 in a bad box, with a bad sony amp. Im looking to outslam my friends who have a 12" L7, 2x rockford 10" p3s and thats about it.

The system im looking to do is, gut all my existing wiring and put all 0/1 gauge in, a hifonics brutus 1606d wiring it at 1 ohm to a Orion HCCA 10.2 sub in a ported enclosure. Space is not a problem so the box will be as good as it can be, along with a 2 farad cap. Head unit is a sonyxplod but really cant fford a new one right now so it'll have to do.

Ditch the cap and get a small extra battery
Would i have to get a new main battery or beef up the alt to support a small extra battery or would it be the same thing as a cap just bigger basically? What brand would you recommend.

Ah ok, looks like the kinetiks only about 100$ not bad.

kinetik hc600 battery. and you dont have to replace the existing main battery its just a add on there really cheap and you dont need any alt upgrades as ure not pulling much power, ure 0/1 wiring and a extra batt is sufficient

An upgraded front batt would be good, although not nessacary, same goes for the alt.

Have you/will you do the big three?

no you dont have to beef up the alt. i have around 3800W rms in my car on a stock 102 amp alt. i have a kinetik 1800 in the trunk i still get a little bit of diming, but i did do the big 3 (almost) battery- to chassis/body and the +alt to battery wire in dual 4. i did keep my caps (2 5 farad caps) to slow current so i dont cook my alternator as fast.

Well I just had a new battery put in my truck a short while back when myold one was time to be replaced so id rather not replace it already. I havent done the big three but will with this new setup. Im guessing the hcca can handle 1600w from the hifonics..even tho most tell me it doesnt really put out 1600w at 1 ohm. But im sure itll be plenty of power.

Wow, thats not good lol

you will probably see more like 1200rms from that amp, and if you just replaced the batt then don't go get a new one, although I would consider something along the lines of a yellowtop once the current one goes

Sweet, thanks for all the help. Im guessing you wire up the kinetik the same way you hookup a cap..ground and power wires thru the amp and battery? Also, while im planning to order all this stuff within the next week or so..I havent yet so would there be another amp to consider that would put an actual 1500+ watts to the hcca? Kinda wanna get the most out of it since its gonna be a little 10..but i dont doubt it will get pretty **** loud.

Run the power wire to the batt and then to the amp, run the amp's ground back to the negative terminal of the batt, then ground the negative batt terminal to either the negative of the front batt (preffered method) or to the chassis of the car.

Alright change of plans..gonna do everything the same except, put 2 more type Rs in my truck. making it 3 12" type R, will be same rms as the hcca but should outslam it fairly easy, I would hope. I made a box for my 1 type R this weekend which has about 200watts going to it and the box ended up being a ported 6.8cu ft box for a single 12" type R lmao..but lemme tell you it SLAMS, so Im going to throw 2 more 12" type Rs in the same box. This should allow each sub to have 2.2 cu ft each which should be plenty. I guess the hifonics 1606d would be pushing around 300w to each at 2 ohms? Which is fine by me seeing as my 1 12" at 200w is slamming. And going to put 0 gauge everywhere along with the big 3 and a kinetik hc600 battery.

K, another change of plans. Within the next month or 2 i want to go bigger. But i need your help to make it all perfect. As of right now I have 2x new style 12" type Rs. and 1x old style. Im going to sell the older one and buy 2x more new styles. Ive been looking around and i think I wanna get a power acoustik bamf 5500/1. I guess the only way to wire 4x DVC 4ohm subs to this is 2 ohm? Unless this amp can handle .5 ohms? So each 12 will be getting around 500 rms which seems perfect to me. Ill be doing the big 3 with 0/1 wire and running all the other wires to the amp with 0/1. Now the question is what size box should I make for these 4 to get the best deep bass ported. Will all share the same chamber my limit is 50" wide, 17" depth and about 32" high but id rather 28" max. Also what do I do about power? will I be forced to get a new battery and alt? Or can I just get like 2x hc600 kinetiks? If the funds allow i'll throw a yellowtop in there but I may not be able to.
