Ok i have done quite a few searches and could not find the info i was looking for so i was wondering if you all could tell me just how underrated these amps are. i am considering installing them in my car and just seeing if it would be worthwhile.

they are the punch 160.4 and the punch power 50.2

and iirc they were made in 96

i'll be running the 160.4 to mids and highs and 50.2 to my sub. 50.2 at 4 ohms and 160.4 at 3 ohms for now until i get new comps

Holy sexyness, those are the fosgates that were out when i first started to get really into car audio. i forgot that they were originally that color! If it helps any, my neighbor had one of the 240a4 from the same series, in 96 or 97 i think and i recall him bragging about how the birth sheet said that it was putting down 2xx watts per channel bridged. I don't remember the exact number, but i think it was about 230 or 240, so i would imagine your to be realistically in the high hundreds to 200 range. Also, a friend of his had a 50.2 running a sub in her mazda, same time. I think it was putting down somewhere in the mid 200's bridged iirc.

they are pretty underrated..

i've seen the 600a4's do like 900+

i've had the 1100a2, 800a4's, 800a2's, 600a4's and i've loved them all. Power is much more underrated than punch though.

nice, i had 1100a2, 800a2 and 400a4. love these amps, they are bulletproof //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thanks for all of the replies guys. you are all telling me what i was wanting to hear. i think when i get the time i may swap these in my car and see what happens. i have had these for quite some time and have never really had a chance to play with them.

and yes manbeer these amps are very sexy and i love them. i dont think i'll ever sell them but if i do change my mind i'll keep you in mind. i have really been toying with getting some pdx or jl hd amps lately to have a small footprint and hide them but they are pretty costly and if im not going to use these i would like to let somebody else who would use them a chance.

also i was saving them for car in my avatar but i dont think i'll ever finish that car

i have an 800a4 i use for my highes....its the 95 model though....polished with the black end caps. (i believe it was tested at around 1100w) very nice...when RF was good. i used to run 2 punch 200ix's to 3 12's....was getting about 700w out of each of them. i sold them for $200/ea and my buddy got it off the guy i sold one to and he sold it for like $75...lol

either way...just a story to tell.

keep em, bridge em down, and keep em cool.

If they don't run into a cooling problem, they are great amps. I hate to retire an old 200.2 due to lack of cooling capability. But birthsheet was 407 RMS. (twice as much!)
