I can type like a ***** ape but I have no clue how to make an avatar actually work. The one that shows up is done from PAINT from the URL I want to use and cut down to just a small segment of the original picture. It always comes up as TOO LARGE. I don't know how to make the picture smaller to fit it in as an avatar or a signature. Can someone please assist me?

If you're using Paint then once you image is pasted into the workspace goto the bottom righthand corner and grab/drag the small cube found at that corner to reduce the workspace and make it fit your picture.

Once the workspace and the image are the same size use Stretch/Skew (under the 'Image' tab up top) to make the image the desired size.

Did that make sense at all?

well, I have the URL to the pic in my sig, but not the pic. what do I do to get the pic to show up?

If you're wanting it to show up as your avatar (and be displayed under your username in the box on the left of each one of your posts) it has to be uploaded into CA.com as your avatar (you do this via your User CP --> Edit Avatar) And the details will be given there but remember that avatar images have to comply with the TOS like anything else and cannot be larger than 135x135 pixels.

Phat, thanks very much Prowler! Now I'm trying to get something to show up as a signature picture and it makes me type in a URL only...what do I need to do to get a larger URL picture downsized to stick there....if it's asking me for the URL only, which would be too big for the limited space?

Images for your posting signature cannot exceed 600w x 225h pixels and can contain only 1 image (as per revised TOS).

You'll want to create your image (and make it comply with CA.com's policy), host it somewhere (http://www.ImageShack.com and http://www.PhotoBucket.com are fairly reliable free image hosting services), then remote-link to the image. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.
