How to use DIMM to determine a good ground?

I know I can somehow use my DIMM to find if a given grounding point would be a good ground but I am not exactly sure how to do it and what values of resistance I am looking for?

Would I touch my negative side of my DIMM to the grounding spot and the other to the battery positive terminal? Since my DIMM does not have 20 foot wires can I just twist some 16ga speaker wire to the positive side or something?

Thanks all.

Calibration is definately the first step... securlely attach your extension leads and 'touch' them together then "zero out" the meter. Make all your measurements with these leads connected--to make sure you dont degrade the connection quality I recommend soldering the stripped ends before you start too. What type of meter are you using? Manufacturer? Model #?

More importantly the ground connection at the battery should be upgraded to whatever size power wire you are planning to use and be cleanly grounded to the chassis. Also recommended for a hi output system is too upgrade the ga. of wire from the alternator to the battery.

In the vehicle, for the components, it is best to ground everything to the same 'terminal' location. Make sure it is grounded to a clean solid metal source (basic grounding rules apply here.) If any power wire needs to cross signal wires make sure they do so at a 90 degree angle-- in my experience twisted pair RCA cables are a good way to prevent RF absorption/interference.
