How to tell when amp is clipping?

Take your probe from your oscilloscope and connect your negative output on the amp to the negative gator clip and stick the positive part of the probe on the positive output of your amp. Then set the oscilloscope to ac volts and play a test tone and if you see a clipped waveform then turn your volume or the gain down until you see a nice clean waveform.

I got mine of ebay a few years ago. I only paid $15 plus shipping for mine and it works great.

Put a piece of paper over the amp if the amp cuts the paper up you know it's clipping.

I found some places on the net but the cheapest I could find is $200-$300...I'll definitely check eBay then!

There's tons of them on ebay you just have to look for the deals. A older scope will work just fine, The one I have is newer one than the ones in the links.
