with these new pioneer hu's you can run an external hard drive, i have a 3.5" external hdd 160gb that i can part with. howver it is powered using a power adapter that puts out both 12 volt and 5 volt. where can i get something like this that i can wire in my car without using a power invertor? thanks.. the input looke like this:

well the 5volt should be running thru the USB cable, since USB runs on 5volts and the 12volt would just be your standard voltage in your car...well kinda...you would probably need a regulator or something cuz your alt. puts out 14-15.5 voltage usually

I would search google for maybe a cig lighter adaptor type thing? you could always splice your own cable too, they have diagrams online for what wires do what...

I wish I could be of more help but Ive never looked into somethin like that before, sounds cool tho I cant wait to buy a new pioneer deck, my p80 does fine for now
