How to make RCA's

All you need is a good grade of shielded audio cable and some RCA plugs, along with decent soldering skills. I've done it many times in the past.

The problems come in when trying to solder the connectors on. If you apply too much heat you melt the center insulator and the cable gets shorted.

making your own is a great way to customize another part of your system. you can even twist them to a 45 degree angle (like the big companies) to kill some of the noise and make it look cooler.

Anyone have suggestions as to what kind of wire i can use to make RCA's im trying to keep things neat. Also do home made rca's have any disadvantages?

A few people run these in their car.

My car's RCA's are solely comprised of these "home made" units...
