How to make "toilet bowl" bombs...

Posted a video in the video section of us blowing up a birdhouse with "toilet bowl" bombs and decided to make a How To by request..

Items Needed-

Empty Plastic Bottle -- Examples- Gatoraide, Propel, 20oz Mountain Dew, Ozarka Water Bottles..Needs to be fairly thick plastic.. Thin plastic and large containers (such as 2-liters) doesn't work well..Don't need to go over 32oz..

"The Works" Toilet Bowl Cleaner -- This is beginning to get hard to find.. It has a 20% concentration of Hydrochloric Acid which is what you need.. Only stores we have found it at recently is Dollar General.. Other cleaning products with a high HCL concentration MAY work.. We tried 2 other products with 10% but they didnt work..

Aluminum Foil-nothing else to say about this

Instructions

1.) Tear off a sheet of Aluminum Foil around 12-15 inches long.

2.)Tear the sheet into strips about 1-2 inches wide and wrinkle them up into long, tight cylinders..

3.) Put the aluminum foil strips inside your empty plastic bottle..

4.) Pour "The Works" Toilet Bowl Cleaner into your container until there is approximately 2-inches of "The Works" in it..

5.) Put the cap back on the container TIGHT!!!!!!!

6.) SHake it up good

7.)Get it out of your dam hands

8.) Sit back and enjoy

This creates a fairly large blast..About the equivalent of a high-caliber rifle/ 12-gauge shotgun..

The reasoning for the explosion is as follows.. Basically, the Hydrochloric Acid reacts with the aluminum foil and releases hydrogen gas. If you watch closely (but not too close) you can actually see white gas being released in the bottle. The hydrogren gas swells the bottle (usually to around twice its normal size) and exerts an enormous amount of pressure inside the bottle. The bottle then explodes!

This isn't really that dangerous.. Just be sure not have the bottle in your hands too long after you shake it up.. Heat will be given off before the bottle explodes.. Also, be careful when picking up the trash left afterwards.. The stuff gets REALLY hot and can melt a lot.. I Imagine it will leave a nasty burn!

They 2 liters do work...Back when I was in high school. We put a 3 liter coke botle in an empty taker Railcar. It sounded like an atomic bomb...

Thats why you keep "The Works" to a minumum.. And of course don't stand close to the bomb.. I have not witnessed any spraying.. If you use excess amounts I imagine it would though.. Just don't go filling the bottle halfway up or anything..

You havent set one of these off in a yard or grassy area and wondered why a 15 foot raidius of grass is dead and brown.

I made one after I etched the shop floor with Muriatic acid...mutch better.

So this is why when i was cleaning the sink with that stuff white gas filled the bathroom. I thought i was gonna die.
But the works ftw?

those fumes can cause serious harm, and/or fatal.

muriatic acid, my advice is to use gloves & a face mask. The fumes burn your eyes and lungs. Breath taking stuff.
