How to Calibrate - CD

Can someone advise a good calibration CD, in order to fine tune the sound of my car audio system. It may not matter, but my setup is:

2006 Mits Montero Ltd., everything mounted on factory location

+ Clarion VZ-709 HU

+ Alpine PDX-5 Amp

+ Infinity Kappa 60.9CS Fronts

+ Infinity Kappa 62.9i Rears

+ JL Audio 8w1v2 Sub

There are more than just test tones there. Test tones should be used with a DMM to set gains properly. A 50Hz 0DB tone is preferred.

Secondly there is a GM top 10 tuning songs download there. All 320kbps MP3's with a detailed guide and what to listen for while tuning. There is also a USACI tuning disc.

I was thinking more of crossover points and eq settings then gain setting and I wouldn't use tones for that.

You have to set your gains right before you EQ.

Using a DMM is setting them right? To many variables, from music recording, assuming your amplifiers ratings are correct, etc.

You use a DMM with a test tone not music. 50Hz 0DB. You dont use music at all to set the gains properly. Of course there are variables, but the DMM method is the best way to do it if you dont have an OScope and 9 times out of 10 will set the gains properly without clipping. The equation assumes you have an amp that does rated power. In this case with the PDX it does so thats a moot point.

Never said to use music to set gains. He wanted to fine tune the stereo, that implies he already set the gains and is moving onto crossovers and EQ in which case I would use music I am familiar with.

To many variables. Your assuming he set his gains properly.

to set your EQ - pink noise with an RTA, to set gains - Autosound2000 CD104 make sure you use gain overlap

OP if your going to be serious about tuning you may want to look into a different headunit. You have a HU that doesnt have time alignment and your stuck with 3 sets of preset EQ settings.
