People....

You're killing me. Let me let you all know how online sales work.

You go to the seller. He has something that peaks your interest. You say "gee, I really wish I had that". You click "add to cart", you fill out your billing information.. and then the product is sent to you after you click "confirm" or "place order". YOU DO NOT RECIEVE THE PRODUCT BEFORE PAYMENT. That is not how the retail or resale industry works. You cannot expect one seller to give you a break because "your a good person, and I have lots of references". No one cares. Money is easier to refund than an actual product if it gets lost in the mail or destroyed.

Everyone just needs to chill the fuck out and use the classifieds as you would an online store. Have you ever called up.. eh say... Ike Sound, to ask if it would be ok if they sent you what you wanted from their warehouse and then once you get it, then you'll send the money. Do you see how stupid that sounds? It's the same EXACT concept here.

learn it, live it. If your uncomfortable with the concept, find somewhere else to buy.

that could work. People who are uncomfortable should try this. The person who wanted it should foot the bill for the fees.

Sure I agree with the lack of references and experience. But for those of us who do have all of those things, trust should not be an issue. There are plenty of people in here that interact daily and know each other through various car audio related things.
For those of us who are verifiable, carry on. But before I buy anything from anyone that isnt local, i double check everything. ALL feedback on that particular forum, other ref's, ebay, you name it. And for those *** bags out there who set out to rip people off, dont try and live close to me. I am that one nut bag that will do ignorant shit to you and yours. And I encourage others to do the same. If we had more people being held accountable, this wouldnt be an issue

COD has it's downfalls. I've heard of people giving USPS fake cashier's check's and MO's. So you can be screwed COD. Credit card through Paypal is the safest way. I'm just suprised most people don't ask for more things like pics with the seller's user name or a printout of that day's MSN home page. Most people just don't dig enough to find out whether someone's really legit or not.

there are ways to hold ppl accountable for what they do---in the instance of the ipod scam-the scammed ppl need to join a joint lawsuit to hold the bytch accountable, that way the total would be 500buck times 50 ppl to total $25,000--the local authorities would have no other choice but to pursue actions against her. If i'm involved in a transaction over $100, i need proof positive of residence-for example a CURRENT utility bill with that persos name on italong with a copy of their i.d.-this would make a would be scammer uncomfortable enough to back out immediately along with making a slew of excuses. plus, who would want someone insane as i am knowing where they really live.

There is such a thing as cod. its done through ups dont know if fed ex or dhl offer it i never asked. but what happens is when the package is deliverd to you they will ask you for the amount the seller has requested. most cases a money order. they then take it and send it to the seller. thats what i would ask of most people who have no refs

Another pretty cheap and safe option is to use an Escrow service. The buyer pays them, the seller ships the thing, then the guy who recieves says everything is cool and the escrow pays the seller. If the product never shows the buyer gets his money back and if the buyer doesn't hold up his end, the escrow service can pay the seller. It is very safe and generally if someone you're dealing with isn't cool with escrow they aren't trustworthy to begin with.

i never ship out ANYTHING without getting paid first. I gave away my Kenwood x679 which I paid retail 300.00 plus taxes to some ******* that contacted me on one of these fourms ( not this one) and I never heard anything else. He wanted to get circuit city to hook it up and verify that it worked 100%. I thought I was talking to a older person not a young **&*^* kid. Needless to say he got several nasty email's from me. Bastard kid hope he rott's in hell!

I looked into this and found that it not really as safe as people think it is. While I have been looking to buy a street bike, one of the things I noticed was alot of people selling bikes for great deals. I would contact them then I would here the bike is with me not in pa or some place in the states, etc I moved to london or spain or some place. They want a money order in someones name and they will send you the bike and then you give them the password to it so they can collect after you get the bike. This be western union. Or the want to use escrow but they will want you to use one of theres that they say they use.And what happens is they have people workn in it to give them the password so they can get the cash with out sending you anything. So you set up a western union in your dads name. Not to them and prove them that you have the money, then they say ok I sending this out to you and you will give them the password to MO. Well there friends look up the name, then give them the password and your well, up creek with out a paddle. Thats another thing to look for guys.
