How much would you throw at an MT for daily driving?

OK I know MTs don't have an RMS. Ive asked several people what would you compare an MT to and some say it can take 5,000rms for daily driving others say it can take as much watts as you can give it. Then some people tell me they wouldn't give it more than 2500rms for daily driving. Im just curious to see whats the most RMS you guys would give to an 18" MT for daily driving...

im sure it can take WAY more than 2000w daily. my friends xxx15 takes 3000watts daily and he blasts it all day everyday. id say 2 2500's strapped or something in that range, for daily im sure it will take it with ease. now im saying 5k watts just for the simple fact that 1, you most likely wont be putting that much through it for long periods of time and 2, why spend all that money on an mt that your only gonna give 2k watts to when you can do they same with a less expensive sub?

btw blazer: how you liking the l7's compared to the type r's you ran? is the R still a the better daily woof? and do they l7's get louder or no?

edit: of yea i never really answered the question...the most watts i would give an mt for daily: 4-6k, again i have no experience but im basing it off of a 2004 xxx that has been runnin 3k for 2 years now.

meade said they can take 3k for a while daily, only thing is after running them for a while, like all day, they might not be happy

ever how many watts mine is getting with the strapped a3000s (turned a down a little) is doing it nicely, havnt smelt coil yet so i might turn it up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

my boys xxx has been takin that same amp for 2 years, so im sure those mt's can take quite a bit more power, of course i dont know if the amp is actually putting out 3k watts but from what i read it does its rated power...

Oh ok...Good thing I made this thread. I was getting all sorts of crazy number like 5,000rms all day and such. People made it sound like this sub was a god or some thing. I was expecting 3,000rms for daily.

Oh. Impedance rise and music. not 3Kw most likely.
no, definatly not 3000 watts of course. but im just sayin that for daily, which to me implies music, im sure he can run 3k watts if not more and still be safe. of course, a amp that is rated for 3k isnt gonna be putting it all out considering all things, starting with the electrical system, but as long as its rated at a TRUE 3k the mt should be able to take it...based on my experiences with the xxx. reasonable?

Nicely put.
