how much power to a type r?

what is a good amount of power to give to one 2 ohm 15" type r? i think the rms is 750 and the max is 2000. would 1000 rms be good, or would that be too much for it? should i try to stick around 750 watts? would it be unsafe to feed it more than the rated rms?

ok so if i buy a 2 ohm sub, then am i supposed to look at the power @ 2ohms on the amps? like the kicker 1200.1 is saying it is 1200 watts at 1 ohm and 600 watts at 2 ohms. would i have to run it at 2 ohms since the type r is a 2 ohm sub? da'mn its all confusing.

no different subs hold different amounts.

my type r 12 was getting 1100w rms power to it, and it was a dual 2 ohm sub.

It can handle it fine if u get the right box
