This. Extra clean power is much better than having not enough and driving your amp into clipping in order to get louder. I like to have 1.5-2x's rated power so there's plenty of headroom for dynamics and such.As much as u can afford
my hu has 8v outs. gain set between 1-3 on the scale. It's clean power I just don't understand why it is not performing up to the cdt standardsThis. believe I seen it also in soem research before I bumped up this old thread. I just want to double check before I do try to bridge them on the amp and $h!t starts to blow.if this is the case, iim going to be pissed. i have never seen a comp set or any other speaker for that matter rated in terms of wattage for the pair. i just bought a set of CDT comps from mr mylows10, and if this is true we are going to have something to chat about
I'll be throwing an older Kenwood 4 channel on them (60x4 @ 4ohms). They are rated at 170wrms so I know they will be power hungry. How much juice would you put on them given there rms rating? Give me some input so I can give them some output!
No way the HD's are rated at 170 per pair. CDT was notorious for rating their speakers with a 100hz HPF in order to up the rating. So I highly doubt they all the sudden started doing the opposite.
when did reputable companies start rating speakers this way? in my 15 years in car audio, i've never seen anything outside of the flea market rated this waythere 170wrms for the pair, not each speaker. THere 85wrms each, mine get 60-70 each and are very loud

Weird, they're rated with a 120hz crossover, so I assume they'd be able to handle a lot more than just 85 per side.there 170wrms for the pair, not each speaker. THere 85wrms each, mine get 60-70 each and are very loud
No idea, but i can tell you they will not take 170wrms a side. My eclipse is an 85x4 and its turned downwhen did reputable companies start rating speakers this way? in my 15 years in car audio, i've never seen anything outside of the flea market rated this way
I could make one tomorrow i guess, but why? U can actually tell if theres good SQ via video? or how loud they are for that matter, about 100db it kinda all sounds like staticvideo?
