How much juice would you give CDT HD61's

This. Extra clean power is much better than having not enough and driving your amp into clipping in order to get louder. I like to have 1.5-2x's rated power so there's plenty of headroom for dynamics and such.
my hu has 8v outs. gain set between 1-3 on the scale. It's clean power I just don't understand why it is not performing up to the cdt standards
I was told otherwise.
@mylows10 ;
if this is the case, iim going to be pissed. i have never seen a comp set or any other speaker for that matter rated in terms of wattage for the pair. i just bought a set of CDT comps from mr mylows10, and if this is true we are going to have something to chat about

Get rid of those CDT's and get some Keekars!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif jkjk

Put that double din in and see if helps any.

Maybe the low pass filter on your amp is broke.

Can't figure out why the HU hpf was at 125, and the amp lpf was all the way up but it wasn't filtering the bass out.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

believe I seen it also in soem research before I bumped up this old thread. I just want to double check before I do try to bridge them on the amp and $h!t starts to blow.

I'll be throwing an older Kenwood 4 channel on them (60x4 @ 4ohms). They are rated at 170wrms so I know they will be power hungry. How much juice would you put on them given there rms rating? Give me some input so I can give them some output!
No way the HD's are rated at 170 per pair. CDT was notorious for rating their speakers with a 100hz HPF in order to up the rating. So I highly doubt they all the sudden started doing the opposite.

there 170wrms for the pair, not each speaker. THere 85wrms each, mine get 60-70 each and are very loud

when did reputable companies start rating speakers this way? in my 15 years in car audio, i've never seen anything outside of the flea market rated this way

so, you mean to tell me, if i understand this correctly... that when you look at a comp set on their site... will just say these hd-61 compssince thats the topic... that when it says 170w rms that means total for both sides? if thats so, not only is that f'ed up and **** poor on their part, but mine will be stamped return to sender when they get here

No idea, but i can tell you they will not take 170wrms a side. My eclipse is an 85x4 and its turned down

I could make one tomorrow i guess, but why? U can actually tell if theres good SQ via video? or how loud they are for that matter, about 100db it kinda all sounds like static
