How much higher wattage than sub rating

I have 2 dvc 400 rms 10" rf subs. Im looking at getting more power and larger/ higher rated subs.

How much more can i go than the total 800 rms safely? Would it be able handle 1200 rms?Im looking to as high as 2000 watts rms in the very near future . I'd like to go 12 in or possibly 15 in subs this summer. My goal is more Spl and deeper bass.

Current set up

2 rf p3 10 dvc 400 rms-2 subs

Rf prime 750 amp

Running at 1 ohm

I will be upgrading the alt to handle the new subs and amp ,along with the big 3

Thank goodness my old lady doesnt mind me doing this at all:)

Thank you

Cone area is king if your gonna be running the same power to each sub, it depends what type of bass you like for what size sub you get also depending on your available space for a box 2 12s will be louder than 2 10s and 2 15s will be louder than 2 12s i cant comment too much on 15s since ive never had any but ive had 3 10s and 3 12s before and i liked the 3 10s better (could of been since the 12s were older subs so not as advanced as the 10s but idk) if your looking for all put SPL then i wpuld suggest max cone area and tons of power

To clarify, deeper bass and more SPL don't necessarily go hand in hand, so you'll need to find a happy medium. To get louder, you will need to tune your system as close as possible to your car's resonant frequency - usually around 45Hz. That is not very deep, but generally louder than lower tuned systems. In most cases, if you want your system to be musically pleasing, you want to stay around the 30-35Hz range - depending on the driver itself. To get the deeper bass, you need:

1. plenty of power

2. subs with good amount of excursion

3. properly built enclosure to cater to your taste and the drivers

Additionally, you should definitely go with a ported enclosure. The larger it is, the less power you need to get loud. If I'm gauging you correctly, you'll want a pretty large box tuned to about 35Hz. Also, I'd like to dispel the myth that larger subs play lower. You'd be surprised what you can do with your same subs in a properly built box.

Heres the specs from rf for the enclosure, i thought the enclosure looked smallish?

PL3-210 (Dual 10" DVC)

Nominal Impedance (Ohms) Power Handling (Watts-RMS/Peak) Internal BoxVolume (ft3/liter) Overall Dimensions (HxWxD) (cm)

4 (8x2)

800 / 1600 2.10 (59.46L) 13.5” x 31.25” x 16” (34.3 x 81.9 x 40.6)

I dont know much about the enclosure size but i read that each 10 likes 1.5 cu ft each? Would the excursion on a sub i end up getting be on the specs? Im pretty much a noob at this but im really enjoying having bass again after a long time of not having any.

Anyway im really enjoying digging deeper into this hobby and im really enjoying my drive to and from work now:)

Thanks guys.

1.5 is good for most 10's on decent power. Holler when you're ready to upgrade and get a solid custom ported. Ill demo my hdc310 for you so you can hear what the right box can do. Your current box is 3 cubes gross btw.

It may be in the manual, but they probably didn't publish it because it's crappy. I didn't realize this was a package thing. Once you get the new alternator in, you can upgrade everything else. Exactly how loud do you want it though? I don't have an SPL setup, but I don't compete either. I'm a fan of my hearing and don't want to lose it. My ballpark for you is 3-4kw amp with 2 15's. If you're already looking for suggestions, 80% of recommendations will come from soundsolutionsaudio.com. If buying new, you're looking around $2k for this setup - box, amp, subs. Whatever you do, do not cheap out on the box. The other recommendations will be tantric sounds, FI audio. There are also dealers on here for B2 audio and Ground Zero audio - both have awesome high power handling woofers and I strongly recommend you look into those as well. If you need any other advice, let us know.
