How much $ for a decent system?

I have a 96 Mustang Cobra. I have been looking for just a sub setup less than $300, but have been told that I can't get anything worth having for that price. I am wanting either 2 8's or a single ten, nothing major, probably 500 watts or less. I am satisfied with the stock speakers, just need a little bass. I may look into replacing the door speakers as well, just depends. What is a realistic budget for a good SQ system for a beginner? Thanks.

Why not look for an infinity basslink or a basstube? All in one that way not much room taken.

If you want to go seperate.....maybe something from partsexpress.com and a small amp would be in your budget.

Depends if you want to buy new or used. I personally prefer used equipment for a number of reasons, one being price and resale residual. You can also usually get higher end equipment used cheaper, than cheap equipment new.

It's up to you to set the budget you can afford to spend and then decide if you HAVE to have new or pick up some quality, great priced goods from the classifieds.

IMO if you are looking for a single 10 setup, $300 is plenty of money.

IDK, I've had numerous threads about a budget setup, all I can get is anwsers saying nothing you can do for under $300. I like the idea of bazooka tubes or the basslink, but for the same money I could get something like a Kicker CVR and Kicker zx300.1 mono amp, which I thought would sound better since it would be higher wattage. Lower price the better, definitely under $300 if possible, what do you guys suggest? Thanks a lot, really appreciate the help.

150 for a decent mono amp and 150 for a sub is doable. If you got woodworking skills you could make your own box. You won't be heard for blocks, but it'll give you the sound you are more than likely looking for.

Go look in the classifieds bro. I got a 12"cvx and a memphis st500d and an awesome box for $255 shipped. Just spend some time.

local craigslist. You can get a mean sub setup for under $300.

I just bought a 12" L5 in ported box and random 1000w amp for $200

If you are willing to build the enclosure yourself, its definitely doable, with a decent little 10.
