How much does upgrading to beefier subs do on the meter?

Hey guys I'm going through a build in my vehicle now and I have the enclosure made for 4 10s and 5k rms. I also picked up some new soundqubed hds310s and before I complete this I'm kinda contemplating how much a diff I would see from just swapping to some sundown x's or hdc310s on the same power. What's interesting is the sundowns play loud down low I hear and might not necessarily make higher numbers around 45 hertz or so. What do u guys think? The goal is 150 in a small cabin el camino,Thanks*

Someone else will have to chime in to say what they know as far as what beefier subs on same power as "lower quality" subs will do, but I will say that it will give you the option to get a bigger amp later on without having to upgrade the subs. The hdc3s can take over 2000 watts. There is a guy local to me pushing 5000 watts to 2 sundown X 12s (2500 each.) Hitting 150 shouldn't be a problem with 4 hdc3s in that tiny cabin.

ive put over 5k each to HDC aluminum coils before.

You will definately notice a difference going to a beefier sub, however, if you dont want to build a new box, you need to match the beefier subs to the current box. For example, the Xs and the HDCs are going to need a different type a box between just the 2 of them.

it just depends on the box. in most cases, yes, a bigger, beefier sub will get louder. However, if the box isnt good for them, then it could just fall on its face.

whats your box specs?

On the power you have HDS300's should be fine. Get it playing and go from there....

I'm going from HDC4's to HDC3 coppers and hope to get louder //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
