I would look for a headunit that will allow you to run active, have time-alignment, a decent eq, and high volt pre-outs or any one of each depending on how uch you will actually benefit from the feature. $200 would get you a decent used one around here.

Don't see myself running active anytime in the near future, but i guess I could always be ready for it. Only things I think I'd concerned with out of those would be eq, and possibly voltage. Any suggestions? I was looking at the pioneer DEH-P8300UB and the JVC KD-R810

You can find an older Eclipse. Ive seen the CD7000s go for somewhere in the $200 ballpark and they are great SQ units.
