How much can stock electrical take?

i got a durango with stock upgraded batter and alt, i'm wondering the biggest amp/sub combo i can go without terrible dimming

i'm thinking max i'd do is kicker zx1500.1 (+-1750w birthsheet) pushing two 12" L7's running 0 guage and don't know if that's over kill on my electrical without having to buy a new alt/battery.

i have no problem doing the big three

how much do you think my electrical could handle????

please help

big 3 + a good second battery bank would keep your electrical pretty stable. keep a digital voltage meter around on the dash or so to watch your voltage and just to be on the safe side.

Every car will act differently due to many factors. Only way to truly know is install it and find out. As fbi said, good dry cell (AGM) bat in the trunk will be needed. You should also replace the stock battery. AGM batteries can sit at a higher voltage than wet cells and you don't want the wet cell constantly draining your AGM (until their voltage equals) when the car is off. It'll kill your AGM faster. It's always good to replace all batteries at once, too, and not add new batteries to old ones (the old ones will wear down the new one faster), and the newer battery can mask the old battery when it starts going bad and then it will really kill your newer one.

If you still have more dimming than you like or voltage drops too low then it would be time to consider an HO alt or a second battery in the trunk.

I have the exact same set up, besides the L7 (I have 2 L5's) in my 97 Lumina. My alt is stock and rated at 100 amps. I just brought a kinetik HC800 and have no dimming what so ever, and havent even done the big three. So I recommed what jrwalte said before, a good drycell in the back is needed, and replace your stock battery. Personally you should of gotten rid of your stock battery as soon as you brought your car. So check your voltage after you buy the batterys then see from there if you need a HO alt.

Good Luck

thanks for the help fellows, my car is muddier than s hit due to some ridiculous cool 'muddin' and can't read the alt for the amps ;]

but i think i'll be good and i'm gonna have to go for it

once again, thanks, and if anyone has had dimming problems, just let me know how many watts you had going to stock =]
