how loud will two alpine type e 12s be

how many DBs do you think ill be pulling with two type es matched perfectly on a mrp500, i'm not trying to be heard for two blocks or anything but i live in rural FL so people getting mad at me isn't an issue, i can't even hear my current sub outside of my car. Is it going to be powerful enough to where i should invest in some dynamat?

Open air? They won't be very loud at all.

Seriously, though, what I'm trying to get at is the fact that the subs aren't the only equation in output of your system. If you're set on the Type Es, start looking into getting a custom box made to reap the max potential out of 'em. If they're the redesigned ones, they'll have some pretty decent SQ for the price. Can better be had? Absolutely, but sometimes we make do with what we have.

My only questions for you are have you already bought the subs and, if not, what is your budget and what all do you already have?

budget is around $100 per sub, i had a few people reccommend these in my other thread on deciding which sub, i already have a sealed box for with two 12" pioneers in them, not champions idk what they are or if theyll work with this 500 and alpine mrp500 being to shipped to me at the moment, so basically i was looking for two subs that have 250rms each at 2omhs and the type es seemed to be my final choice, i couldn't find any of the sundowns people mentioned for sale anywhere.

sweet, i found the specs for a box, if i do ported will it be detrimental to the sound quality vs a sealed. Its a? I'm a pretty skilled carpenter so im sure i could build a box for myself, will the 3/4" MDF at lowes or home depot work fine to build a box or is it some type of special board. it says 1.67cuft for 1 sub so just 3.34 for two right? and it would be 1.80cuft for the sealed enclosure, anyone know if that larger of a ported box would fit in a corolla trunk? i think i might be limited to sealed due to the size of it im not sure.

edit* that might be 1.67 for both subs, 3.34 looks awfully big for only two subs

MDF is fine and just talk to some of the resident box builders here. Ported is not necessarily detrimental to SQ if it's done right. You get better low end extension on less power if you go ported, but some people like the tighter bass a sealed box provides. You might want to go back in and look at your dimensions since you didn't mention a tuning frequency for that enclosure. Somewhere in the mid-low 30Hz area should do you well (I've heard 35 for rock, 32 for electronic/hip-hop).

^^^Those are some of the guys who can help you out with your build.

LOL @ rangerdanger. 3/4" mdf will work fine. Just know that at lowes, home dept, etc.. the sheets are usually not perfectly square to begin with. I would also recommend that you get a design from someone on the site. There are many good designers here.

Caught me there. I was only half-serious about RD. He needs the experience, though
