how loud can you get?

IS THE TWEETS ON THOSE VANADIUMS LAID BACK? im looking for a dynamic, exciting, in your face sound. my dynaudio's were too laid back. i want balls to the walls without having to build a custom door to fit multiple drivers.

Check out the Rainbow Powerline CMX 265 Kicks (cal25 titanium tweets). Amping them with a clean 200-300w rms should make you a happy camper.
Also look into the Treo TSX comps. Rated for 100w rms, but will easily take a clean 200-250w rms.
personally heard those at metro audio. very nice sounding for the price

Rainbow part# 231564 - Vanadium Kick w/ CAL26 Titanium Tweeter

Rainbow part# 231543 - Vanadium Kick Cross (Vanad mids, Profi tweets) w/ CAL26 Silk Tweeter

Check the pricing for the set with the titanium tweeters since you want a more crisp and aggressive reproduction of sound.

Agreed.

Tweeters were a little harsh for my tastes, but they were configured for 0dB attentuation with 240w rms, so that might have had something to do with it.

The Vanadiums come with the CAL26 Titanium tweeter, which when amped with 150-250w RMS should give you the dramatic, soul-shaking sound you're looking for.

I've also read that the new Diamond D971 components provide a similar listening experience.....just balls to the wall, in your face music.

i think i got my mind set on the vanadiums. now i gotta get a decent amp. i sold my dls A3. im leaning towards audison lx 2.9. y'all think thats 2 much power for those? i'd like to find someone thet sells the rainbows and audison. i cant find anybody that sells audison

Aren't JBL infamous for bassy bias? At least they were a decade ago. And Rainbows are only available in the U.K.?

I know what you mean. I listen to a lot of loud Judas Priest, Halford, Deep Purple, Ozzy, Sabbath, Scorpions and when it gets loud it can usually get muddy no matter what you're using. I'm using ADS 6.5" components which are extremely realistic. I got rid of some Diamond D661s and CDT CL-63s because ADS were much more balanced and I got an excellent price on Ebay ($125).
