playing around with WinISD, I graphed out the Ascendant Audio Mayhem 18" D2 sub.

Fs = 33.2hz

qms = 6.62

qes = 0.27

qts = 0.26

vas = 148.9L

In a sealed box 23.3L in volume and a qtc alignment of 0.71, the sub's F3 is 90hz!!! WTF!?

I know it's a low qts sub and needs a ported box. But in a 226.5L (8 cubic feet max recommended box size) tuned to 35hz, it's pretty much -3db all the way to tuning where it goes back up.

i don't understand how this beast looking sub can be advertised as having "monsterous deep bass" and "skull cracking upper bass" when it graphs out so poorly.

Please tell me I'm missing something here.

What you are seeing is very typical of a high motor force driver when modeled up in a box program. In-Car response will not be at all like your graph, though... but still, putting that driver in a sealed box is not a great idea //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
