How is Infinity for home?

Something like a CSS 4.5" full range in pre-built cabinets would be the way to go...only need to cut out the holes for the drivers. Or have someone on here build you cabinets for cheap.

I have the stuff to build the cabinets I just don't know if it different from like a sub box for a car?

1. do you have to seal off chambers for the mids?

2. or doesn't it matter?

3. or should I port?

4. and if so what are desired ports for tiny 5 1/4 mids?

I know lil about car audio and less about home audio

Ok then does air space matter at all for mids?...cars have lil to non but a bookself cabinet mid has the whole cabinet. I've never seen recommended air space for home speakers so can you just do whatever you want?

Ahh so basically none of my questions will be answered till I am sure of what I want to buy or already have it? I hate that lol. I'm still not sure what to hook up first my car or my room.... thanx tho

An entry level pair of B&W speakers would be both cheap and nice sounding. just a suggestion.

These entry level spkrs have an MSRP of 300/pr

Or step up to the next level which are 600/pr.

I think B&W is one of the BEST spearker mfgs in the world. Can't really go wrong with them.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I would stay away from pro-audio speakers...

Since you're on a very tight budget, I would still support my recommendation of full range speakers. Tang Bands, Creative Sounds, and Fostex (with lower power handling) all make excellent speakers that can be built for very cheaply - no crossover parts to worry about buying or assembling.

Thats probably the wise thing to do but I learned from my car that I don't wanna upgrade (switch things yea thats all good) but I don't wanna do it twice. Plus seeing as how I have no clue how to do a crossover it will be a good oppertunity to learn. Plus when I'm ready to buy(not gonna be for a while) I'll prolly spend a grand on both my car and room systems. maybe more
