How important is SQ if all you listen to is Rap?

funny. rap is the genre that most abuses the capabilities of a sub woofer and yet everyone thinks that SQ doesnt matter. y else are u spending hundreds on a sound system then? what other genre can u justify more than a nice pair of componenets for your listening needs...

lol alot more. every genre of music has extention of real low bass not just "boosted bass" just about any music that plays a pipe organ or large drum. techno/industrial..... there is alot pop music even on down to classical and even country music.

hey i listen to classical lol so i know what u guys are saying. but for one genre where a quality subwoofer can make a noticeable difference is rap.

I have two 2000SPL's ported... which are pure SPL subs, SQ was not a factor in their design. Personally though I think they have great sound quality, every song I listen to sounds really good, unless its shitty bass like on the song "Switch" then its just an annoying sine wave of bass.

Personally I feel SQ is super important in any type of music you listen to. I think the difference comes in where the SQ is at. Just hear me out before you bash my skull in. I love midrange when it comes to Jazz. But my love affair changes to Sub-bass when I listen to wrap. Then comes midrange and midbass in classic rock. Then the whole gambit when listening to classical (but who the hell listens to that crap - hell I have no idea what a moonlight sonata is). So back to my original point, SQ is super important in every aspect of your sound system....just my 2 pesos

on yeah and on SQ, the more time you listen to it the more your ear changes until you go back to a shitty system which at first was fine or even great but now ot irritates the crap outta you. It sneaks up on you and there is no going back. So be warned....cuz this shyt gets expensive....

I cant count the number of times Ive jumped into a friends car with their volume cracked up, speakers distorting like hell. One time I stuck my stock speakers in just for the hell of it, and they were so bad I turned em off after about 30 seconds

sound quality in rap music is a must, shit you guys hear how many different kinds of bass notes they play at almost the same time, if you have and SQ driver on some rap music it will deffinetly change the way the music sounds,

and that doesn't mean a sealed box, if some of you with sealed box's had a well built ported tuned for SQ, you'd never go back
