you can go 5.25" with making a template and not cutting the door, or you can get the boston SL80s which sound good.

the only other thing i would go with in a 6x8 is the pioneer rev tsd-680r. but i would take the SL80s anyday over those. they are a great sounding setup.

Many Ford Vehicles with 6 x 8 speakers can easily fit 6.5" or 6.75" speakers by using a 1/4" to 1/2" MDF adapter (baffle). I'm not positive on the escape, but many others have put 6.5"ers into the standard Ford 6 x 8 holes.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

im gonna be putting 6.5's in my mustang (with 5x7 holes) as soon as i get them... just going to make a baffle out of MDF... it may even raise the speaker out enough so none of the door needs to be cut but who knows... ill have pics whenever i get it done

i did it, very simple, you might have to modify the original design to get the door panel back on, just cut a little bit of wood of or what not, other than that its quite simple
