How does this look?

Well I want it to run games pretty well, and be expandable enough for the future because it's gonna need to last me 7 years of college.

From my research that has the best mobile graphics card around.

Bro, I've been in the IT field for 24+ years...let me tell you one truth...ain't no piece of technology gonna last you 2 years let alone 7. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

And who are you, Bluto Blutarsky??? "Seven years of college, down the drain!"

I'm on a five year old laptop right now and it's still running. I've got 4 years for my major in exercise science and then another 3 for a degree in physical therapy.

Our Dell Dimension desktop at work is about 4+ years old, and still running strong. Essplain dat, bro.

I'm gonna do you a solid and let you know... 1gb of ram is NOT going to cut it. The rest of the specs I didn't look at because... I can tell you don't know what you're doing. So, go to dell outlet. Spec out a computer. Apply this coupon (20% off 17" laptops: C1HX7?JVHMPPC7)

You're not going to be able to game without going all out. Get the highest end graphics card and nicest screen. get at least 4gb of memory and the cpu with seemingly the most value. You cannot have a budget like 1000 dollars if you want to game. Sorry that's just the way it goes. 1k is nothing. It's like shooting for the moon with a bottle rocket.

this.. can you game.. SURE.. can you do games in HIGH settings NO.. and what the other guy is saying is not that the COMPUTER won't last that long but the actual TECHNOLOGY in it will be outdated by then.. its how it goes. and with a laptop not a whole lot is changeable.. the ram is about it.. Buy the highest quality you can now so even as it gets outdated it can do most things.. If you start with a medium quality laptop 2 yrs and its a low quality. 5 years its VERY low quality compared to the times.. So start as high as you can

^This...thanks Kyle...it will only be good beyond a couple of years if you are running the same software and doing the same shit...we software geeks are constantly building shit bigger and badder which means your hardware has to keep up.

Ive always had an honest question about that, are the programmers building "bigger and badder" or is it just getting lazier as far as the programming, and equipment etc etc?? Being why computers have to have so much power now compared to back then?? Or both??
