How does one test the wattage output of an amp?

I'm assuming you need to have a regulated, variable power supply to power the amp from, run a specific test tone through it, and have a clamp meter measuring amps and a volt meter measuring voltage at a dummy load of 4 ohms? this sound right guys?

you should also use an oscilloscope or spectrum analyzer to determine harmonic content of the output, to ensure the amp is not mis-rated due to it putting out 80% THD.
