how do you test an amp to tell if it is bad

I bought a used amp online, after hooking it up it doesnt turn on. the power indicator doesnt come on. i know its getting juice .the fuse looks good also. is the amp bad?

is it grounded and your remote wire hooked up ?? if no both of these could be stopping you from getting and sound

it is grounded and the remote wire is hooked up although the remote wire may be messed up it was missing from the harness and i had to replace it with a different wire. i think that is probably the problem. can you run the amp without this wire?

jump it with a little piece of speaker wire from the +12 input on the amp

What he said. I dont think Ive ever seen an amp that wont power up actually.

well i jumped the remote wire and the power wire and the amp turned on so it must be the remote wire not hooked up properly. thanks for the suggestion
