How do you tell the non-savvy what you have?

So you're at work, or at school, and someone says they heard you listening to your system really loud or whatever, and asks you what you have in your car.

a conversation i had at work a few days ago:

"Hey, you got speakers in your car?"

"Yeah"

"What kind?"

"Some swedish company"

"Really? What size?"

"They're component sets, i have 6's in the door and tweeters mounted separately"

"What kind of sub do you have?"

"Resonant engineering 15"

"Never heard of them.... :frown:"

"Meh" (walks away)

ha, kinda the same way when I told people about shivas.....all they know is JL, RF, JBL... "What is a shiva? Who is Adire?" "They look cheap" I know what they are, but a lot of people around here don't

who cares. let them listen. and then tell them to talk.

dont tell them who makes em. be like "listen for yourself."

then tell them. or start off with "youve never heard of them, company is called adire, and its so top notch, noone knows about it "

dont tell them its and adire shiva. that line above, "youve never ..." ive only been caught once on that with a stranger. he was like, "oh really? adire? awesome. have you heard of RE?"

Yeah its the same way around here... nobody heard of RE, Adire or Dayton until I started doing some installs. And the guys who "know" about audio still think RF, JL, Kicker are all still the best stuff.

heh, yeah. i usually just say, yeah i have a system but never thought about just saying, "it doesnt matter what it is, just come and listen, you'll love it"

i was told by a few ppl at work that you cant make a 15" sub sound clean and that they would never like a 15. so i am gonna do it up and then have them listen and then show them that :gasp: it is a 15

also one of the anti 15's kid was like, forget that no name stuff and get rockford. so i guess i get to show him whats up twice.

the only thing in my car that they will ever heard of is the alpine stuff(hu, changer, eq)

hehe had some guy today checkin out my LI, hes like "what kinda speaker is that??" Im like Incriminator audio, its an internet company. He said internet company huh??? and that was the end of the conversation.
