how do you remove dynamat?

or..any kind of sound deadner, i think i did a bad install on my trunk lid so i wanna remove the four layers of my trunk and do it all over again with new material...im thinking since it's tar i can just heat the material then peal it right off...or is it gonna be harder then that?

I ended up taking off one peice of Dynamat off my truck, I ended up just ripping it right off. That took an hour or so and cut my hands up pretty bad and there was still quite a bit of tar still on the metal, so then I had to take a rasor and some soapy water and tried to get the rest off. Tried is the key word cuz I didn't get all of the tar off, it was a pain and I wouldn't recommend trying to take it off.

hmm do you have something that is rattling or what? Why do you think it isn't working? I have one BAD spot in my car that I am having to go all out to get it to stop rattling, but I have noticed a big improvement in my car with just 2 layers in the doors and going on 3-4 in the trunk. Although heavy bass still rattles some things I have noticed a significant difference so I'd like to know why you feel your install isn't working.

i feel like it isn't working cause my trunk lid still rattles and even worse it sounds like the floor of my trunk is rattling NOW too...almost sounds like the mufflers about to fall off or something(which it's not)

Well, applying Dynamat can make some rattles worse because of its insulating effect. My trunk was ok before dynmat but rattled a little. I put some on and then my rear deck rattled worse than it had before, so some weak areas can have the rattles become magnified but if you've done your entire trunk in 4 layers that is kind of odd. Have you gone hunting for the rattle to see what exactly is causing it. I know its a pain to try and hunt done some rattles but only way to ever get it totally fixed. Good luck on your install and I hope you can fix that problem because rattling is never fun to have.

yeah, 4 layers and really no change..i think im gonna buy a dynamat bulk pack and take it down to my local audio shop and let the intstaler just go crazy with it, since i've already really tried and can't exactly pinpoint where the rattles are coming from...he's had more experince with this stuff anyway so

4 layers should improve ur rattle even if u did a somewhat bad install. maybe somethign else is rattling that then kinda resonates into the lid or something.

You just need to find out where the rattle is, you must have missed a spot. With the system on loud to where it rattles, go back to the truck and apply pressure all over and find out where the rattle is, when you find it slap some Dynamat on it.

To remove sound deadner I have found that gasoline and matches work really nice.

I dont think you need to remove it I just think you need to find your rattle and tighten it up or put somthing on it to keep from rattling.

I wouldn't use expanding foam, unless it was your last option. The foam is messy, plus it expands quite a bit and can/will brake/bend medal expanding. If you do use it make sure you play with it first, get an empty soda can and fill it with foam so you can see how much it will expand. The only place you would need to use it is in holes that you can't get any Dynamat in that is rattling.
