Just got my mechman 270 amp alternator.

Right now pushing an SAZ 2000d (18" nightshade v2) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and a bazooka 60.4.

Kinda twisted on which batteries to go with. Very tempted to drop 2 xs power d1400 batts in my truck. and if i upgrade and get a bigger amp say SAZ 3500, i could just add more batteries.

I do like how the xs d1400 batts are 15volt, but i feel id need to get more to have the actually battery volume? if that makes sense.

I also like how i would have all the same batteries, with no worry about size differences.

My other option will be an xs power d3400 or d2400 under the hood. and a d3100 in the back with the amps.

I guess im just a little iffy with the d1400's because i think they are kinda new. I have heard of the 16v systems, but i dont want to do that. ( i know its not going to change my system like a 16v.

just want your thoughts

thanks

kyle

If you are running an external regulator then yes I would run them. You want to charge them at 16.2-16.5. I would not throw run them on a 12v system as you would be under charing them therefore decreasing their overall life. I myself have ran quite a few of the Powermaster batteries, in which Im currently running the d1400's. These are my personal favorite to say the least. Even though the reserve is not as much as some other batteries, when compared to 12 volt batteries these hold a better voltage when put under a load. They act as if they have alot more reserve then what they are rated at. If your vehicle doesn't mind the higher voltage I would say run the d1400's. Just to to Matthew at mechman about the regulator if you go that route.

yeah the alt i just got is adjustable, and i was going to get the new xs VCM. so it would be all good. Yeah i liked how it kept the voltage high. so more than likely ill end up going with this. plus if and when i upgrade, ill just be able to add batts and be done.

thanks

kyle
