How do you create templates of your trunk?

What are the secrets to making a template of your trunk when you want to make custom pieces to flush with the trunk? I've heard of using a cardboard but still dont understand? any help will be appreciated

take many many pieces of cardboard.....get a large piece to cover up the middle and trim the edges out of many strips taped together

sounds shitty but trust me, it works. have patience though...

i use the duct tape and carboard method most of the time and only use the expanding foam method once in a great while

Add another x for cardboard. I only use new, fairly stiff cardboard. Somtimes if it has any folds in it, your measurements will get screwed up. Ramos, what is this "tick wheel" that u speak of?

I'm trying to cut a faceplate with it standing verticle, sort of like IB. I need it to contour with the top/bottom/and sides of the trunk. Like this

2", 3",4" discs with holes in the middle for a pencil. I use the different sizes depending upon the shape and complexity of it. follow the contour with the wheel, and the pencil traces it exactly on to your cardboard //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Pull the carpet out and use it for the floor dimensions. Works Great!

Yah done that a couple times, but im trying to do more of a wall, not floor stuff.
