How do I prove to my co-workers that simply underpowering doesn't blow subs?

I know this is probably a re-post but...

My co-workers at Circuit City swear that underpowering a sub will blow it. When I told them I disagree, everyone freaked out like "Are you kidding me dude!?" How do I prove to these car audio know-it-all's that this is not entirely true?

That is all.

Tell them that if underpowering subs caused damage, they could never turn the volume down from full blast because then they would be underpowering (and in turn damaging) there subs...

Ha ha. I've had that problem too. Everyone in the shop LITERALLY stopped... stood there... and stared in disbelief when I said it. It's b/c of the stupid e-learnings...ghey.

Yea and since I am the newest one there, they're all just like Haha listen to the new guy!

Oh well...

You just don't. I gave up when I worked there. Even the install manager had trouble figuring up the final impedance of basic sub wiring.

I felt bad for so many customers paying thousands for systems that weren't even matched up well.

But, when it came to product knowledge, they > me. That's what really matters in a deck+4 store.

Indeed.

My manager is at least pretty knowledgeable. He knows of the internet brands and acknowledges them. He knows I know my shit too, and we can have intelligent conversations... even though when it comes to audio knowledge I know more than him. He, on the other hand is the Alarm/RemoteStart/Relay shit master.

yah.. there always seems to be one guy in the group who knows... I worked at frys in the computer dept... I was a lowly un-commissioned sales guy and knew more than anyone in the dept.... it was funny 'cause some of the commisioned sales guys had never even owned a computer... when a smart customer would start asking questions they would find an excuse to dump him on me... sometimes I got a thanks but even that was uncommon... so I sold low-profit and stuff that fry's put on sale at a loss as hard as I could to piss off my bosses... I had 5 in my dept... they'd get PISSED when thier checks were shrinking b/c of me...

anyways the moral of the story is frys sucks nutsack
