How do I find out which part in my ps3 is bad?

that wouldnt make the whole thing **** dick, just wouldn't play any discs. never heard of red light on the ps3. i heard of a yellow light, and mine has a red screen with about 5-10 different languages that says 'critical error' or some shit.

never said it is the BR drive.

it got blinking red light. there are few possiblities.

I am thinking about shelling out 35 bucks for ps3lightfix.com manual so I can fix it. Reviews are saying it is legit so I might give it a try.

Cant justify shelling out 300 bucks when I know that only one or few parts out of whole ps3 are broken. Id much rather fix it and save money.

my ps3 just got its red light of death after 5 years.
No compliants here, it served me well and it even went thru a roll over in a vehicle with me this past winter lol.

Anyway, I opened it up already and I cant even tell which one is bad. Can any one of you tell me how to determine what is bad? There are some CDs or books for sale for 40 bucks online that helps me fix ps3 (it says guaranteed) but for some reason I dont trust them.

I am going to buy the necessary part from ebay and then fix my ps3. Rather than shelling out another 200-300 for new ps3

The ps3 starts up fine, it got power but as soon as I wake it up, it would go into green light for few seconds before going back to blinking red. I couldnt get the CD out, I had to get it out in the hard way. So is it the Blu ray drive that is junk?
