How do i burn a DVD

[I Like Waffle]

I been trying to burn a few movies to dvd in the format to play on a dvd player. The files are avi format and MP4. What program do you guys use to burn in this format? I also tried burning them as raw files on the dvd but it says cannot copy, wont let me burn it like a regular CD and i cant figure it out.
