how cd players are mounted

hmmm... in a Cutlass? I'd like to see it...

The heat generated from a HU comes mostly from the power amp. If you'll be running speakers from the HU you'll have to consider forced air (fan) cooling. If you're gonna amp all the speakers, you might get away without it. The heatsink on the back of a HU is to cool the power transistors... heat rises, so mounting orientation has a definite effect on cooling efficiency.

yeah I got to get my bucket seats tweeded up and get a digital camera and the list goes on and on. So I could put it basically in its own box and put a pan blowing air in or ******* air out of it right? and would it even play? Your car is the exact same just 4 doors right?

If you enclose the box, make sure there is some vents so cool air can be drawn in and hot air will blow out.

My Delta is a B-Body, the Cutlass is a G. Very similar, but the Delta's bigger..

Originally posted by BDIDDY Yeah I was wondering about making a custom center console and mounting my cd player vertical instead of horizontal. can you do it without any heat damage or would it even play at all.
well i hate to tell u, u shouldnt put ur cd player vertical b/c the cd player aint supposed to be tilted that much, check ur manual it should say the same thing
