I got a set of JL 6x9s on craigslist a little while back, and right after I installed them, my window hit one when I rolled it down and broke this coil off the speaker. The tweeter still works in the speaker but not the woofer. What exactly does it do, and can I just solder it back on and get it working again? Sorry for the POS picture. yes i am noob ****

it's already ruined. try it. you have nothing to lose anyway.

No monies to buy a new set right now, ive got higher priorities as far as the system goes. I have my subs to play bass and just turn the bass down on the speakers, but theres times Id like my subs off and it sounds funky as hell with bass coming from my pass side only

thanks guys, i guess ill give it a try when I get time. i didnt want to waste a couple hours pulling both panels and attempting a fix if there was no way it would work

i honestly dont know what it is, im pretty noob to car audio. Its got a small gauge copper wire coiled around a small cylindrical what looks like a magnet, but it doesnt attract any metal. Someone on another forum told me it was a 'choke coil'.

I THINK this is the model of the speakers, but might be wrong. if not theyre really similar. You can see in the pic the coil i am talking about
