how can I do this...

I'd like to make sure my amp inside my false floor doesn't overheat.

I really don't care what the temperature is, as long as its not TOO hot.

So rather than buying a $200 temp gauge, I figured I could rig something up for teh cheap.

Can anyone think of a way to have a light pop up on my dash whenever the amp goes above a certain temperature?

if I get a thermometer with an LCD, is it easy to cut the wires and add to the length of the wire?

You can just install some 70 or 80mm PC fans with the black and red molex wires. One wire to the power, and one to the remote. It will only come on when the amp is on. Then you dont need to worry about temp or overheating. It will just keep it cool.
