how can I do this...

I'd like to make sure my amp inside my false floor doesn't overheat.

I really don't care what the temperature is, as long as its not TOO hot.

So rather than buying a $200 temp gauge, I figured I could rig something up for teh cheap.

Can anyone think of a way to have a light pop up on my dash whenever the amp goes above a certain temperature?

get one of those things that pop out of chickens when then are done. Drill a small hole in the floor, install it, Make it so, when it pops it trips a micro switch, which alert you to potential melt down.

Or get a limet switch and wire it up inside the area near the amp. maybe a 180 or so.

Your amp shouldn't be overheating unless you're clipping and/or wired at an impedance lower than 1 ohm..

If you're having overheating issues then you need to consider a better amp with better heat sinking.

Oh alright, I actually haven't even built the false floor yet, and my amps don't have heating issues, but I figured it would be nice to know that the temperature isn't too high when I'm out on long drives. I plan to install some fans.

thanks for the help. and !@#$ sorry about the double post...
