How big is your music library?

and i never listen to it.

ew, whats with the backwards EQ
X-Fi Platnium Optical out to a Harmon Kardon AVR 430 that powers an Infinity C25 center, (4) JBL E40's towers and (2) JL 10w0's in 2.5cuft tuned to 30hz with 30sq.in. of port area thats powered by a 240rms Dayton plate amp @ 4ohms...

After tweaking for hours and hours and owning this setup for over 2 years it sounds amazing with both those EQ settings, especially for a PC setup //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

*edit*, btw the CMSS 3d is disabled during music listening, it's just enabled during gaming, but most the time I just plug in the Sennheiser HD 595's into the front audio panel to frag it up for much better directional sound.

Bass boost....you are fired !
Nothing wrong with that at all in this setup, have you used the X-Fi sound cards before? Trust me it sounds much better with the way the sub stage is setup.

In addition to that you dont even know what the AVR 430's gains and EQ settigns are set to...

There's alot of sweet settings on this guy...

Dude, believe me when I tell you that no matter how strong your passion for music is, I guarantee that it does not exceed mine, if it even matches it. Be sure of that.
And you don't need to list your harddrives. Anyone with a few hundred bucks can get TBs of storage space.

Having 47 google plex digital albums doesn't impress me. Demonstrating that those albums represent a good taste in music, however, would.
I wouldn't go off on a, i appreciate music more than you rant. You're just going to end up looking like an ***.

and after your rants on 'black' metal i really dont think you're in any position to talk down to people about their musical tastes.

I dunno, I've watched every movie I own. I haven't read every book I own, books take a lot of time, but I try very hard not to buy new ones unless I am making progress on the ones I do own. I have listened to every CD I own multiple times, and have very nearly listened to everything I have downloaded, short of stuff from the holiday when I grabbed 6-8 albums from one artist and stuff I have snatched in the past few weeks.
I get your point, but I don't see the point, if you know what I mean. A lot of research goes into me downloading music. I don't download something unless I think I have a fair chance of liking it. Maybe if I were indiscriminate with my downloading, I could have 3x as much as I do now. But what's the point? I would be wasting hours upon hours listening to shite that I have no interest in. As it is, downloading stuff that I think I will like is hit or miss, at least 1/3 of it I end up not liking, and more than that ends up being just mediocre.
I've listened to every album i own.... so?

I've found some of the best music by downloading random albums. I love music in almost all genres. If you 'research' everything before you download it you're not doing yourself any favors. And surely not exposing yourself to anything new or worthwhile.

Curious, your main source for music is ______ ?
Peoples CD's. I've bought a lot of cd's at concerts... albums that i would not be able to find online or in any stores for that matter. Soulseek has been quite helpful as have random torrent sites and google. I've also taken one of my externals to friends houses and we've swapped music.

AllStar1500bd, it makes more sense if you are a DJ. Techno? Yeah, that would make more sense. I know techno people like to keep recordings of every single set, etc. So I can understand having possibly a few GBs worth of stuff from a single artist. Whereas, with my music, and I very rarely listen to live stuff, I might have 2 GB max if I had an entire discography in FLAC if the group has been around for a while. But more often than not a discography will mean 4 albums and 400MB.
I have about 400 songs from the roots. I listen to the whole group of albums on random very often. I have even more louis armstrong songs. etc. etc.

Did you read what that was in response to? I didn't say that I appreciate it more. I said I doubt he appreciated it more than me, which is what he was implying.

and after your rants on 'black' metal i really dont think you're in any position to talk down to people about their musical tastes.

Regardless of what you think about black metal, or any other music, I assure you that I am in a position to talk about peoples musical tastes in any way I want, though I don't participate in random or pointless flaming, and I always make an effort to support my opinions.

I was simply pointing out that not everyone has vastly more material than they utilize. It's not like I think listening to every CD I own is brag-worthy.

You are simply and utterly wrong with those last sentences. This thread is not the place for me to discuss what new things I listen to, but I would put money on you being pretty surprised. Black metal isn't a touch on the weird and obscure shit I listen to. I'm not bragging, I'm just saying you're wrong about my research and downloading methods. But if the other works for you, that is great too.

Perhaps I could send you my Oink handle so you can look at the 500 albums I am seeding, to give you a taste? Just an offer.

Ah, I see. Unfortunately, none of my friends have musical tastes nearly as extensive as mine. I don't think I could benefit from borrowing any of their CDs. It's all either pop shit from the radio, shit I have heard, or stuff from artists I don't care about. Oink is where it's at for me.

Like I said, the vast majority of artists I listen to don't have that much material. I would say 90% of them have 5 albums or less. I can maybe only think of 2 or 3 with 400 songs...
