How are the new alpine headunits?

Thinking of replacing my older pioneer deck with a new one and started looking at the newer alpine ones and really like them. the only thing i don't like is the preamp voltage only being 2 volts on most of them. Will it really make a big difference if i'm going from 4v to 2v?

It will make a difference, yes, but the effect of that difference will depend on your amp(s). You might not even notice a difference.

What head unit do you have now, and what are you looking at? The new Alpines for the most part seem awful for the price compared to Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC, etc.

It's not that Alpines are bad. It's just that most head units are relatively the same, with the only real differences being how they look, and their UI. What Alpine were you looking at with comparable or better specs than your Pioneer?

You can definitely do better then the Pioneer, though. Off of the top of my head, there's the Pioneer DEH-P7400HD(5-band graphic EQ, 24-bit DAC, 3 sets of 4V preamp outputs), the 8400BH(the only difference being Bluetooth), and the 9400BH(two USBs rather than one). The 7400 you can get on Amazon for $125.

I don't know of a new Alpine that has comparable features at a comparable price.

those pioneers you listed actually look really nice i'm thinking about getting one of those now. another one i was looking at was the pioneer mvh 7300 just because i thought it looked really cool lol

Yeah, my girlfriend just bought the DEH-P7400HD, and I've been eyeing that MVH-P7300 for myself. If you've got the money for that, I'd say go for it.

They are. I was looking at the CDE-123 ($190 from sonic) and the pioneer mvh-8200 (same price i believe). The pioneer offered everything the alpine did and included support for an SD card, video playback, full color LCD screen, 8 band eq vs. a 3 band eq, and just so much more features.

inb4 WD coming in saying that pioneer decks are crappy because they "cram so much useless crap into a small space vs. the alpines having seperate modules". I had more problems with my alpine than I have with my pioneer (so far I haven't had a single problem with my pioneer).

alright so now i'm trying to decide between the 8400 and the mvh 7300. i don't really need the bluetooth i guess and if i got the 8400 i feel like it'll be almost exactly like the deck i have now. plus the 7300 is sexy as fuck in my opinion so i'm leaning towards that right now unless someone else tells me not to

The 7300 has a better EQ, looks like a better DAC, doesn't play CDs, and has an SD card slot. The 8400 has Mixtrax, and Bluetooth.

It's ultimately up to you, but the 7300 has better features if you don't need Bluetooth.

I almost bought the Pioneer MVH-P7300 about 3 months ago, ended up going with a Kenwood KIV-701 instead. Very happy with the decision, it looks super ****, sounds great and is very user intuitive and has almost too many settings to adjust the sound. Might wanna look into it an compare it to the Pioneer.

yeah the 7300 is what i'm leaning at right now for sure. my only problem is i'm not sure about how to search through songs because mine has a button that you can search through them and go through them alphabetically and i'm not sure if the 7300 will let you do that in any way
