How are the new 9512 G's?

Haha probably should've asked this before I bought one but I was just wondering if any one had any comments/ opinions on this driver. No need to really ask if it gets loud seeing as virtually anything DD is gonna kill, but I was just lookin' to see if anyone has heard one of these. I'm gonna be powering it with my Colossus II at 2 ohms which I think is about 3200w RMS @ 14.4 so most like 3kw at 13.8, which is my average voltage. It's going in to a box I'm building that was designed by Pete from TTB/ MAC and he said it the box will have a virtually flat response all the way down to 20hz. Haha I'm not EXACTLY sure what that means, but I think it means that it will maintain most of it's output all the way down to 20 cycles. Any input would be appreciated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

good luck dude...

kinda doubt the flat resp is going to happen tho...

rediculously sick sub indeed...

Their designs are great. The 2 things people talk crap about them for is their complex box plan names and High prices. But their boxes are supposed to pound.

Now......virtually flat response to 20hz, that sounds challenging, but should sound amazing:)

Sorry, no experience with the woofer, but i will say I'm considering changing to 9512 from my XXX:yumyum:

You bought a DD 9500 for its flat response characterisitics? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

adas, if you listen to music, that would be a downgrade in sound quality. Output would likely go up some though.

I wouldn't worry about an enclousre from Pete. The guy knows what he's doing and if he says he can get you flat down to 20 even with a 9512G then he probably can. I wouldn't expect a miracle though. Many of Pete's designs are off the wall adn only tested in a couple of installations. If you are looking for a horn or bandpass for SQ then he is definitly the guy to go to.

Put one in for a guy a few weeks ago. Box is 4.5^3 @ 35hz. Sounded very good and got plenty loud/low for a single sub/daily set up. Powering it with 2 SD 1500D's strapped at 1ohm, so plenty of power.

35Hz seems to be very good for daily vs the 40Hz DD normally recommends. I'm not sure about a box tuned to play flat to 20Hz, seems like it would be tuned very low and output would suffer.

Besides the fact that unless you drive around playing tones or watching DTS movies there's not much material with freqs that low. And do you realize what 20Hz will do to your car, talk about rattles/vibrations, no matter what you do to deaden it. You're approaching the point where stuff is felt and not heard and I see no reason for that in a car.

My HT subs are tuned to 19Hz and plenty of DVD's have stuff lower than that. My whole F'ing house rattles and is falling apart...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

ok so I got done with the box and found out that it peaked at 17hz...the problem? Pete accidentally designed the box for a 9515 G... There goes $115+ on MDF... He's sending me a new design for free but it will barely help seeing as I already spent all that $$$ on MDF just to have to buy more of it. I played a 17hz sine wave though and it **** near took the window of the it's track haha.

I didn't tell him to tune it that low, I told him that I wanted a daily driver enclosure that got loud as hell, but still slam the lows.
