If you did a DIY project with said tweeters, you'd ditch all your store bought

speakers or downgrade their duty for HT use //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Well space isn't a huge issue.. I mean I don't GIANT *** tuba looking horns. I would like to keep the horns inside towers. Budget is probally ~200 just for the horns. It would probally only play rap music... and movies... and some video games but like I said main goal is loud but still sounding decent. My HT knowledge is shit lol... car audio is where I excel... I am trying to learn tho //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. And for subs.. I was going to use Sundown SD-1s, figuring I can get 4 12s for $250 to my door //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and they don't need much power at all.

I think the best of both worlds is a BVR, dual flares. You get some of the dynamics/imaging and characteristics of a horn, but with the slam in the midbass region that many horns have trouble with. Unless its not tuned very low, then the ripple is effectively moved upwards which isn't as significant.
The Spawn family of BVRs would be awesome http://www.frugal-horn.com/spawn.html

Since your looking at only rap music, I can give you the dimensions for a BIB if you have corners, they can be placed in the wall too...http://www.zillaspeak.com/bib-pioneer.asp

That one is a little conservative, I can send you the bigger dimensions for a lower tuned enclosure, its massive though (20 inch deep, 16 wide, 7+ feet tall) But you won't need a subwoofer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif That will run you around 200 a pair to build with Pioneers and tweeters...

Same here, I always find HT threads interesting.

If you want horns so you can crank up some tunes loud and clean, the old school

recipe still works.

Recipe;

http://www.audioheritage.org/html/perspectives/drews-clues/system.htm

This is a high end recipe as it uses JBL drivers and a fully active installation. You can take

the idea and scale it down and use Eminence drivers. You can search for appropriate drivers at www. partexpress.com .. http://www.usspeaker.com/homepage.htm etc ...

The last link is interesting as it deviates from the norm. They got great results using

the coax driver {mid + tweeter} and Lambda midbasses, but this project is over your

budget.

A B&C coax mid

http://www.usspeaker.com/B&C-8CX21-1.htm

Cost $200 each... seems expensive, but they got really good results with that design as

it was well behaved. A pair of these coax drivers isn't cheap though, but you do get the tweeter + midrange.

... then there is always the store bought speaker ideas.. :hehe:

A soft dome tweeter with horn {waveguide} is a decent solution to getting more

SPL. Add the waveguide to the midrange also to boost SPL.
